40 years of Ska:
Sounds like a rehash – or flat beer?
Think again. Anyone saying that clearly never sweated it out with
Bluekilla.
Side A opens with “Pogo in Togo” from Munich’s NDW legends United
Balls – same wild energy, on record or live. Then comes “Staring at
the Rude Boys”, originally by UK punks The Ruts, featuring a fiery
toast from Dr. Ring Ding. The blend of ska, punk and dancehall gives
this tune some serious punch.
Side B shows Bluekilla doing what they do best:
“The Big Red
Kangaroo” and “Nutz die Chancen” keep the traditional Ska flame
burning, while “Zeit unseres Lebens” mixes Neue Deutsche Welle vibes
with Skinhead Reggae.
“Boys and Girls” brings in some cheeky
synth-pop sparkle before the Barrington Levy classic “Here I Come”
closes the EP in true style.
